Common Questions About Wire Saw for Metal

Yes. Diamond wire saw machines cut stainless steel grades including 304, 316L, and 440C with excellent surface finish. The cold abrasive mechanism avoids work hardening. Typical feed rate for 304 SS (20mm rod) is 0.3–0.8 mm/min with water-based coolant.

Water-based coolant with rust inhibitor additives (pH 8–9) is recommended for stainless steel. For titanium and reactive metals, light mineral oil is better. Vimfun machines include a closed-loop coolant recirculation system compatible with both types.

Diamond wire saw achieves Ra 2–5 μm — not better than EDM (Ra 0.4–1.6 μm). But Unlike EDM, endless diamond wire saw can cut super fast.
